Using the iPad in the Classroom

I finally got my 16g Wi-Fi iPad!!! I am so excited!! I have spent at least a week trying to put together a curriculum to teach the effectiveness of an iPad in the classroom. As I continue to research and talk with other educators I found this wonderful blog post from Nick The Nerdy Teacher about using his iPad in his classroom.
Nick did it!! He used his iPad in the classroom and from the comments he shares with us, he used it to help with attendance, pull up documents / worksheets his students were working on, check & send email, comment / reflect on his lesson plans and do a lot more all from his iPad. He brings up a great comment about using the iPad with his students to create / share video, documents, Web 2.0 tools and more. He would love to have a class set and I personally would love to meet Nick, observe his classroom and pick his brain on all the wonderful ways to use iPads in his classroom.

I think the iPad is a great idea for the classroom. However, the funding for them seems to be the bigger issue. Where are people getting funding for them? I can’t seem to find anyone in my district interested and outside the district… how does anyone know where to look?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thank you for the tutorial. Are you going to be writing a fresh PHP tutorial soon?

Hi. I am a teacher of preschoolers with Autism and have been reading about all the great apps there are that I could be using with my students. Anyone know anything about funding/grants etc for ipads for kids with special needs??

I am also looking around for funding options but sorting through sites has been unproductive. Any ideas? I think this is a great tool for autistic students, and many disabled students in general, to engage around in a nonthreatening way.
